SIET
Kerala, the State institute of educational technology is responsible for the planning,
production,
research
and evaluation of educational software’s
like video, audio programmes and computer multimedia.
SIET
Kerala also aims to implement schemes to generate teaching technologies and
learning process in the modern condext.SIET is competent to produce world class
digital material to meet the needs of children up to 5 to 17 years of age
(class 1-12).
SIET Kerala is in the array of
7 SIET’S in the country. Department of education, Ministry of Human Resource
Development, Government of India sanctioned the State Institute of Educational
Technology for Kerala in 1998.this was come in to action on 1999 under the Travancore
Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Act-1951.
The institute has
adopted itself to play a catalytic role in fostering as well as supporting and
supplementing the educational movement in the state.Particularly in the area of
primary education .
Goals
· Production
of educational/enrichment programmes for telecast through TV/Radio and
communication through CD/DVD.
· Designing
and production of teaching aids.
· To
administer the educational technology programmes and assignment of work to agencies
in both Govt. and Non-Govt. sectors.
· Imparting
training to production personnel and teachers.
· Conduct
research and evaluation of new media education materials.
· Assist
schools to setup infrastructure and also monitor their activities.
· Dissemination
of TV/Radio (Audio-visual) programmes through available commercial channels.
· Implementing
CD Library Project in all the 140 constituencies of Kerala.

institute in educational electronic mass medium.
· Experienced
panel of production teams-especially in the fields of audio-video programmes,
production direction, scripting, camerawork, editing, graphics and animation.
· Creative
facilities for outside production.
· Strong
network in the state.
· Enriched
audio/video library – having a collection of over 2500 video/audio programmes
covering wide range of topics from kid stories to mathematics to value
education to personality development and so on.
Achievements
· Successfully
implemented the CD library projects in 1000 higher secondary schools,2500 high
schools,3200 primary schools in the state of kerala.This was the first time in
the history of India a SIET implemented this type of project for the promotion
of E-learning.
· Successfully
implemented a full-fledged e-learning project in 6800 schools in Kerala.
· In
the year 2006 Kerala SIET selected as the best SIET in India to follow the “KERALA
MODEL” in the field of E-learning.
